The Practice Team
The clinical team is led by four GP partners. Completing the team we have two salaried GPs, Dr Thomson and Dr Vakkund, a Clinical Practitioner and additional cover provided by locum doctors.
Our nurse manager, Sandra Shaw, is responsible for our team of four practice nurses who are fully qualified in all the traditional nursing skills and also conduct long term condition reviews. We have three Healthcare Assistants who are available to take blood samples, perform ECGs, new patient health checks, hypertension monitoring, post-operative wound care, learning disability health checks and injections.
Our practice manager, Alison Sullivan, has overall responsibility to the partners for the operational performance of the practice. She also contributes to future planning, business development and practice finances. She is available to discuss any suggestions, complaints or compliments you may have.
The practice manager is supported by two Senior Admin Supervisors and a Reception Supervisor who are also available to discuss any suggestions, complaints or compliments you may have.
Our Reception Supervisor, Kevin Clipson, is responsible for our reception team. The receptionists (Care Navigators) are here to help you and are acting on instructions from the doctors. Please help them by understanding the problems they sometimes face when trying to please everybody. Please be assured that any information discussed with them is kept strictly confidential.
A team of administrators and GP personal assistants also provide essential back-up support. The practice is fully computerised.
The practice supports a rolling teaching programme for medical student placements from Hull and York Medical School (HYMS). Medical students observe our GPs during consultations and may accompany GPs on home visits. They may also undertake supervised consultations, but your permission will always be sought beforehand and you are free to decline.
Our GP Trainer, Dr Priya, is responsible for our GP registrar.
River & Wolds Primary Care Network (PCN)
We are proud to be working collaboratively with The Ridings Medical Group, looking after a population of 40,000+ patients. We believe in the national strategies for adding to and improving the skill-mix of our excellent primary care team and have invested in various new roles to improve patient care.
Our PCN multi-disciplinary team consists of patient-facing pharmacists, ACP/paramedics, GPwSi and two FCP (physiotherapists).
